Summer Term 2019
Victorian Inventors

During the Summer term we are delighted to be finding out about famous Victorians and the many inventions they created back in the 1800's. We will be studying these and looking at the impact their creations still have on our lives today.

To launch the topic we will have a ‘Famous Victorian Day’ on Tuesday 30th April 2019. The children will travel back in time and be transported to the Victorian Era. There, they will get the chance to take part in a range of challenges including finding out about a range of famous Victorians and playing Victorian games. As well as this, early in the Summer term 2 we will be visiting Morwellham Quay where the children will be given the opportunity of visiting 2 opposing houses (rich and poor), a Victorian school and will be taken on a mine train!

Below is a copy of the weekly spelling lists for the Summer Term 2019. The spellings for the whole term are on this document but children are only expected to learn the spellings which link to each particular week. We will send a copy of all of these spellings home as well as sending them separately each week.

Spring Term 2019

'Investigating Italy'

Throughout the Spring term, the children will become investigators, discovering the fascinating country of Italy. We have kick-started the topic by travelling back in time to discover what happened to the ancient city of Pompeii. Following this, we will be researching and finding out about natural disasters such as volcanoes and how they have changed Italy. During Spring term 1, the children will take part in making and erupting volcanoes, as well as making their very own pizzas. As we get into Spring term 2, our focus of Italy will shift towards the Roman Empire and the impact it had on Britain.

Autumn Term 2018

'Egyptian Quest'

We are very excited to begin our journey travelling back to Ancient Egypt and taking part in many adventures along the way. Throughout the Autumn term, the children will be completing a variety of challenges, which will enable them to become fantastic pharaohs. We are very much looking forward to our 'Pharaoh Training Day', where we will be dressing up, making armlets and even practicing dancing like an Egyptian! With hope that the children complete their pharaoh training, there will be a special Egyptian feast held towards the end of the Autumn Term!
