A plea from Mr Holland
Plea: The PTFA undoubtedly do an absolutely fantastic job. As you will all know; funding for education has never been ubiquitous and now, more than ever, things are decidedly tight. The fundraising undertaken by the PTFA therefore is more important than ever. It puts them in a position to provide those little extras for the children that school should be able to afford but just can’t. The fact that it is organised and run by parents, for parents, thereby providing for the children, makes it very special. They also make school events the splendid occasions that they are. For example; the circus evening last night wouldn’t have been the same without the PTFA providing teas, coffees and cookies which I know went down really well. So why is this a plea rather than a thank you (which is what they clearly deserve!)? They need some more parents to become involved! With many hands to help, such events become a very fun, sociable and much easier undertaking. When there are only a few helpers involved, it becomes a bit more of a chore and it would be such a shame to see the PTFA accomplishments dwindle as a result. So, please, come forward and be counted. The PTFA don’t ask for a lifelong commitment, a pound of flesh or several pints of blood – just a little of your time, a bit of energy and some good ideas. If you feel you could become involved, the next PTFA meeting is on Friday 18th October, 9:00am here at school. It would be great to see you!
