Our School's Race for Life

Our School’s Race For Life

Once again you were amazing, raising £621.52 for Cancer Research UK!

Thank you to all the families who attended Our School’s Race For Life event at Central Park Monday 19th June.

It was an amazing day, despite the heat.

Throughout the day 900 runners took part in the organised running activities in school and over at Central Park. A super effort and achievement by all.

It was lovely to see so many children involved and to see them receiving their medals with such a sense of achievement on their faces. The event attracted 60 families, with 170 runners. It was heart-warming to see so many people running on behalf or in memory of a loved family member or friend. Coming together in support of such a worthwhile charity is what makes our school community so strong.

Cancer Research UK hopes that Race for Life will continue to raise millions in order that they can keep on fighting towards their pledge to find cures for all 200 types of cancer.

Amy Salmon, Cancer Research UK Area Events Manager for Devon and Cornwall wrote:

“On behalf of Cancer Research UK I want to say a huge THANK YOU for playing your part in supporting Race for Life at Montpelier Primary School – whether you helped organise the day, took part or have sponsored a student – sincerely, THANK YOU. What an amazing effort from everyone who took part (despite the heat on the day!) and to those who donated. Thank you!

Cancer Research UK is the world's leading charity dedicated to beating cancer through research. We are fighting cancer on all fronts, finding new ways to prevent, diagnose and treat it to save more lives. We are entirely funded by the public.

Cancer survival rates have doubled since the 1970s and Cancer Research UK’s work has been at the heart of this progress, but it isn’t enough. But there is only one way we will find cures, and that’s by funding research.

The efforts of everyone involved in Montpelier School’s Race for Life over the past five years will fund ground-breaking research and will, one day, help us to successfully treat all types of cancer.”

Many thanks for your continued support in making this another successful Montpelier occasion.
